United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, UNFCCC Secretariat, UN Campus, Platz der Vereinten Nationen 1, 53113 Bonn, Germany

Your Excellencies,
There is no climate emergency

A global network of more than 500 knowledgeable and experienced scientists and professionals in climate and related fields have the honor to address to Your Excellencies the attached European Climate Declaration, for which the signatories to this letter are the national ambassadors.

The general-circulation models of climate on which international policy is at present founded are unfit for their purpose. Therefore, it is cruel as well as imprudent to advocate the squandering of trillions of dollars on the basis of results from such immature models. Current climate policies pointlessly and grievously undermine the economic system, putting lives at risk in countries denied access to affordable, reliable electrical energy.

We urge you to follow a climate policy based on sound science, realistic economics and genuine concern for those harmed by costly but unnecessary attempts at mitigation.

We ask you to place the Declaration on the agenda of your imminent New York session.

We also invite you to organize with us a constructive high-level meeting between world-class scientists on both sides of the climate debate early in 2020. Such a meeting would be consistent with the historically proven principles of sound science and natural justice that both sides should be fully and fairly heard. Audiatur et altera pars!

Please let us know your thoughts how we bring about such a momentous meeting.

Yours sincerely,

Ambassadors of the European Climate Declaration

There is no climate emergency

A global network of 500 scientists and professionals has prepared this urgent message. Climate science should be less political, while climate policies should be more scientific. Scientists should openly address the uncertainties and exaggerations in their predictions of global warming, while politicians should dispassionately count the real benefits as well as the imagined costs of adaptation to global warming, and the real costs as well as the imagined benefits of mitigation.

Natural as well as anthropogenic factors cause warming

The geological archive reveals that Earth’s climate has varied as long as the planet has existed, with natural cold and warm phases. The Little Ice Age ended as recently as 1850. Therefore, it is no surprise that we now are experiencing a period of warming.

Warming is far slower than predicted

The world has warmed at less than half the originally-predicted rate, and at less than half the rate to be expected on the basis of net anthropogenic forcing and radiative imbalance. It tells us that we are far from understanding climate change.

Climate policy relies on inadequate models

Climate models have many shortcomings and are not remotely plausible as policy tools. Moreover, they most likely exaggerate the effect of greenhouse gases such as CO2. In addition, they ignore the fact that enriching the atmosphere with CO2 is beneficial.

CO2 is plant food, the basis of all life on Earth

CO2 is not a pollutant. It is essential to all life on Earth. Photosynthesis is a blessing. More CO2 is beneficial for nature, greening the Earth: additional CO2 in the air has promoted growth in global plant biomass. It is also good for agriculture, increasing the yields of crops worldwide.

Global warming has not increased natural disasters

There is no statistical evidence that global warming is intensifying hurricanes, floods, droughts and suchlike natural disasters, or making them more frequent. However, CO2-mitigation measures are as damaging as they are costly. For instance, wind turbines kill birds and insects, and palm-oil plantations destroy the biodiversity of the rainforests.

Climate policy must respect scientific and economic realities

There is no climate emergency. Therefore, there is no cause for panic and alarm. We strongly oppose the harmful and unrealistic net-zero CO2 policy proposed for 2050. If better approaches emerge, we will have ample time to reflect and adapt. The aim of international policy should be to provide reliable and affordable energy at all times, and throughout the world.

How dare Greta Thunberg restrict our future!!

Pictures: AAP.

Dennis Shanahan writes (link):
Scomo, speaking in New York ahead of his address to the United Nations General Assembly said: “Australia’s best days are ahead of it. And young children growing up in Australia should feel great about Australia’s future. I do.’’
“I feel great about my future- for my children, our children as Australians and whatever challenges come our way, we’ll deal with them, like we always have,” he said.
Meanwhile weird TEEN Greta Thunberg cries:

"How dare you!"
Well, Greta,  I ask you: "How dare YOU?"

Do you know that the most maligned "carbon" is actually  a misuse of the real "alarmist enemy" carbon dioxide.

Do you know that carbon dioxide is vital to life on this planet?
Do you know that the rise of carbon dioxide has been greening
our planet?
Greta:

HOW DARE YOU!

How dare you try to reduce our right to life!
How dare you want to reduce life-giving carbon dioxide.

PLEASE THINK ABOUT THE FUTURE - Greta!

Good stuff on our Facebook page this week

AUSTRALIA’S PERISHER SKI RESORT IS EXTENDING TO OCTOBER 13, MAKING 2019 THE LONGEST SEASON ON RECORD
BREAKING NEWS: Perisher’s natural snow depth has hit 2.25 metres. We’re extending the season! –reads the opening lines of a recent perisher.com.au/ article.Conditions are reportedly “incredible” at Perisher right now (the largest ski resort in the southern hemisphere located in the ‘Snowy Mountains’ of NSW) with the natural snow base hitting 2.25 meters.
Skiers and boarders will now be able to turn and burn the sensational snow until Sunday 13 October!

105 YEARS OF GLOBAL WARMING AT MARBLE BAR

The weather station at Marble Bar was opened in 1885 and closed in 2006. And it looks like the township of Marble Bar and location of the weather station has not been effected by an ‘urban heat island’ creating an artificial warming bias in the temperature record.
During that time (1885 to 2006) Co2 levels have increased for 292ppm to 380ppm (0.029% to 0.038%)

The year with the hottest average monthly mean temperatures was 1944 at 37.1°C (Co2 : 310.2 ppm)

The 2nd Highest was the year 1936 at 37.1°C (Co2 : 310.1 ppm)

The highest ever recorded temperature was 49.2° C on the 11th Jan 1905 and again on 3rd Jan 1922. (Co2 : 304 ppm)

Marble Bar also set a world record of most consecutive days of 100 °F (37.8 °C) or above, during a period of 160 days from 31 October 1923 to 7 April 1924. (Co2 : 305ppm)

More Journals CONFIRM the global warming hiatus

Gee, the alarmists keep telling us, using manipulated data, that the global warming hiatus has not occurred.

Perhaps they should consult with their Chinese scientists.

Recently Chinese scientists have published papers about the global warming HIATUS in scientific journals.

HERE are two:

Increased growth of Qinghai spruce in northwestern China during the recent warming hiatus

Warming-induced drought caused a decline in Qinghai spruce growth in 1980–2001.
There was a clear increase in tree growth during the warming hiatus in 2001–2015.

and the second:

No trends in spring and autumn phenology during the global warming hiatus Nature Communications

So, the question is:

If the Chinese recognise the Global Warming Hiatus, why don't we?

Climate Change Alarmists foolishly call US climate change DENIERS

The Australia Institute does not rely on science. See their report (link)

So, here is a revelation.

In their latest report: Climate of the Nation: 2019 (link) they are relying on survey results. They are NOT looking at science!

REPEAT: They are not looking at science!

So, what does their survey show?

Well, they ask:

Who/What is to blame for rising Electricity Prices?

Any fool would know that it is subsidies to unreliable renewables. But what did they find?

Gee, the top topic was excessive profits from electricity companies (57%) and privitisation of electrical companies.

AND can we remember WHO privitised the electrical companies?

YEP! Your governments.

But let's look further into those statistics:

One third of the people polled (surprisingly only one third were aware) stated the truth that:
Renewable Energy is expensive.

The subsidies on RENEWABLES make it VERY EXPENSIVE,

The poll also revealed the truth the, if we close the base power COAL GENERATORS we have no clear plan about how to replace it. And as 24% (really, only 24%?) said:

Renewables can't be relied on - we need back up power.

Gee, at least one quarter of the population realise the dilemma we face.

Why is the Australian Government bowing to the ratbags who believe (believe=faith - therefore not science) in the fraudulent man-made global warming bs?

Note: bs can mean bad science

As an afterword (or should that be a backword?) they also include this graph on the statement:
I think that Climate Change is occurring?
This got a rating of 77%. Any scientist and most climate change sceptics would have rated this question at 100% since climate has been changing since the beginning of time.

And those alarmists call US climate change deniers.

Science Journal Paper confirms the global warming hiatus

The alarmists try to pretend that there has been no hiatus in global warming and massage data to hide the hiatus. Meanwhile papers keep appearing in journals that confirm the hiatus.

The latest was published in open access journal Forest and was written by Bin Wang et al: (link)

Differential Trends of Qinghai Spruce Growth with Elevation in Northwestern China during the Recent Warming Hiatus

Abstract:
Tree growth strongly responds to climate change, especially in semiarid mountainous areas. In recent decades, China has experienced dramatic climate warming; however, after 2000 the warming trend substantially slowed (indicative of a warming hiatus) in the semiarid areas of China. The responses of tree growth in respect to elevation during this warming hiatus are poorly understood. Here, we present the responses of Qinghai spruce (Picea crassifolia Kom.) growth to warming using a stand-total sampling strategy along an elevational gradient spanning seven plots in the Qilian Mountains. The results indicate that tree growth experienced a decreasing trend from 1980 to 2000 at all elevations, and the decreasing trend slowed with increasing elevation (i.e., a downward trend from −10.73 mm2 year−1 of the basal area increment (BAI) at 2800 m to −3.48 mm2 year−1 of BAI at 3300 m), with an overall standard deviation (STD) of 2.48 mm2 year−1. However, this trend reversed to an increasing trend after 2000, and the increasing trends at the low (2550–2900 m, 0.27–5.07 mm2 year−1 of BAI, p > 0.23) and middle (3000–3180 m, 2.08–2.46 mm2 year−1 of BAI, p > 0.2) elevations were much weaker than at high elevations (3300 m, 23.56 mm2 year−1 of BAI, p < 0.01). From 2000–2013, the difference in tree growth with elevation was much greater than in other sub-periods, with an overall STD of 7.69 mm2 year−1. The stronger drought conditions caused by dramatic climate warming dominated the decreased tree growth during 1980–2000, and the water deficit in the 2550–3180 m range was stronger than at 3300 m, which explained the serious negative trend in tree growth at low and middle elevations. After 2000, the warming hiatus was accompanied by increases in precipitation, which formed a wetting–warming climate. Although moisture availability was still a dominant limiting factor of tree growth, the relieved drought pressure might be the main reason for the recent recovery in the tree growth at middle and low elevations. Moreover, the increasing temperature significantly promoted tree growth at 3300 m, with a correlation coefficient between the temperature and BAI of 0.77 (p < 0.01). Our results implied that climate change drove different growth patterns at different elevations, which sheds light into forest management under the estimated future climate warming: those trees in low and middle elevations should be paid more attention with respect to maintaining tree growth, while high elevations could be a more suitable habitat for this species. View Full-Text

Dr Peter Ridd Wins $1.2 Million In Damages For Unlawful Sacking By JCU For Questioning Climate Science

IPA press release (link)

Link
The Institute of Public Affairs has welcomed the decision of the Federal Circuit Court in relation to Dr Peter Ridd’s case against James Cook University.
Today, it was announced in the Federal Circuit Court that Dr Ridd will receive $1,219,214.47 in damages following the Court’s decision in April that Dr Ridd was unlawfully sacked.
Damages awarded $1.2 million is comprised of approximately $167,000 for past wages and superannuation lost, $835,000 for future wages and superannuation lost, $90,000 for general damages and $125,000 as pecuniary penalty.
“The sum awarded reflects the appalling nature of JCU’s treatment of Dr Ridd and vindicates Peter Ridd’s fight for academic freedom, free speech and integrity of climate science and peer review,” said Gideon Rozner, Director of Policy at the IPA.
“James Cook University must now rethink its stated plans to prolong this ugly dispute by appealing the decision. Dr Ridd won this case on all 17 counts. It is time for JCU to accept the decision and move on.”
“The very fact that an Australian university is willing to force the weight of an entire administration backed by taxpayer funds to stifle an academic’s freedom of speech sends a massive chilling effect to any academic engaging in public debate in Australia.”
“James Cook University’s shameful actions prove without doubt there is a crisis of free speech at Australian Universities.
A freedom of information request lodged by the Institute of Public Affairs with James Cook University revealed that the University has already spent at least $630,000 on legal fees in the Dr Peter Ridd case.
“Dragging this matter to a higher court would be unfair not only to Dr Ridd, but to JCU’s students who expect the university to spend its resources on teaching and research, not pointless legal frolics.”
“It is time for JCU’s council to step in to restore sanity, and save the university from spending millions of taxpayer dollars to exert control over a fine and sincere 30-year employee.”
“If not, Education Minister Dan Tehan must intervene and tell JCU to withdraw its appeal because it is an inappropriate expenditure of taxpayer funds and will do irreparable harm to the international reputation of Australia’s higher education sector,” Mr Rozner said.

CLIMATE SCIENCE

A leaked draft of an upcoming IPCC report calls for urgent emission reductions or, it claims,  humanity will face rising seas, catastrophic superstorms and “misery on a global scale”. UN High Commissioner on Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, warns that climate change will cause serious “harm to Human Rights” and produce “powerful conflicts” among peoples.

But there is little data to corroborate these dismal prognoses.

The global warming deceit, depicted as unprecedented 20th-century warming, stemmed from Michael Mann’s confected data, which is now confirmed as false after Mann lost a Canadian lawsuit which he strung out for 8 years.

Australia was excoriated by mendicant Pacific Island micro-nations, New Zealand and the leftist media for refusing to dismantle its coal industry, said to be causing the islands’ oceanic inundation through global-warming.  UN representative Rachel Kyte described support for fossil fuels as "reckless and cruel".  Actually, the islands are growing.
There was much furore in the UK about a heatwave in July demonstrating global warming is upon us.  As usual, when the data is compiled there is nothing to see:
And the US is cooling!
California three years ago was in “permanent drought” according to the governor.  Now all the reservoirs are full and the alarmists have moved on to the next fabricated crisis.

In spite of talk about the Greenland ice sheet disappearing, it is at a high level at the present time compared with that of the past 10,000 years.
Undeterred, the loudest ill-educated US politician, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, (AOC) frets that melting glaciers, “are going to get into our water” – and mankind is going to be unprepared for resultant ancient, unknown diseases.  AOC says she is so frightened that she’ll have one less child.

Since 2005 the US National Oceanic and Astronomic Administration has been recording temperatures from 114 highly stable stations across the 48 core states. This data proves unequivocally that there has been no warming over the past 14 years.
Brazil's President Bolsonaro, heavily criticised by President Macron over Amazonian fires, dismissed Western concern about rising C02 emissions as “environmental psychosis". Macron claimed there is more Amazon burning than ever before, using a 20 year old photo to prove himself an idiot!
Here is the recent data on Amazonian forest fires.
Michael Schellenberger explains  Why Everything They Say About The Amazon — Including That It’s The ‘Lungs Of The World’ — Is Wrong, while satellite observation reveals that global burning has been in a decline since 2003.
In fact, global forest coverage has increased 7 per cent over the past 30 years due to improved agricultural productivity reducing the need for rural land.

The Australian government, having stacked its Great Barrier Reef agency with alarmists, now finds they self-interestedly report it is in need of greater funding and regulation.  “Ten years of rising greenhouse emissions and ten years watching the Reef heading for a catastrophe," said director of strategy, Imogen Zethoven Peter Ridd, has courageously resisted the reef spin-doctors and demonstrated it remains undamaged by human induced interactions, paying the price in being unfairly dismissed from his university post.
CLIMATE POLICY
The German Greens and Social Democrats propose a higher tax for meat to promote fewer methane emissions. The Christian Democrats are sympathetic as long as the funds go to help farmers to restructure out of meat. Bernie Sanders has joined the bandwagon.

In this address to Heartland, Benny Peiser implores Americans not to follow the EU path, noting that their increasing regulations on greenhouse gases are causing ever-increasing energy prices and ever-shrinking economies.

With the Canadian federal election approaching Premier Trudeau laments that the issue of climate change could become partisan!

Trump skipped climate change G7 deliberations. “We are now the No.1 energy producer in the world.  I’m not going to lose that wealth, I’m not going to lose it on dreams, on windmills, which frankly aren’t working too well.”

This illustrates the disastrous trebling of Australian electricity prices over the past four years due to renewable energy subsidies forcing the closure of coal-fired power stations.  Activists and subsidy-seekers attribute the price rises to coal generators becoming unreliable!
BNEF reported a 14 per cent decline in spending on new installations of wind and solar, led by a collapse of China’s expenditure following lower subsidies. Even so, subsidies to this form of energy are still bringing annual expenditure levels of some $235 billion globally.
Lower subsidies by China offer sustenance to conspiracy theories - Politico sees the former Communist powers, Russia and China, taking advantage of global warming to further their economic and political agendas!  Then again, the US and EU are also spending less!

Whimsy ......
Beware of the Black Widow: this research says climate change might make spiders angry.

As Tony Thomas reports, the Australian taxpayer coughed up $2.5 million for a study that found alarmist climate scientists use emotional denial to suppress their despair over climate change.  Their sadness also extends to inadequate spending on alarmist research – at a “mere” $9 billion annually. Sceptics, by contrast, receive virtually no funding from either government or business.
