Peer reviewed Magazine axed after Skeptic Paper Accepted.

Retraction Watch reports: (link)

“Climate skeptic” journal shuttered following “malpractice” in “nepotistic” reviewer selections

The publisher of a journal apparently favored by climate change skeptics has shuttered it, saying that the editors changed the aim of the title and committed malpractice by using a peer reviewer selection process based on nepotism.
Oh, so it's Sceptical Papers that cannot be reviewed by Nepotism? Actually, no papers should be reviewed by Nepotism; no papers should be reviewed by Pal Review rather than Peer Review.

And Yet!

It has been OK for years for the Alarmists to scratch each other's backs whilst excluding any contrary opinion as the Climategate emails detailed: (link)
One of the most striking revelations to immediately emerge from the "climategate" scandal has been references to efforts by scientists espousing the human-caused warming theory to exclude contrary viewpoints from important scientific publications.
Dating back to 1996, the emails show that both U.S. and U.K. based scientists referred to any research offering alternate viewpoints as "disinformation","misinformation" or"crap" that needs to be kept out of the public domain.
The emails include deliberations amongst the scientists regarding efforts to make sure that reports from the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change include their own research and exclude that of dissenting scientists
In one of the emails, Phil Jones, the director of the East Anglia climate center, suggested to climate scientist Michael Mann of Penn State University We "will keep them out somehow -- even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!"
The ClimateGate CRU wanted NZ Scientist Chris de Freitas removed from an editorial position because he had the temerity to publish a Peer Reviewed Paper which was not in accord with the falsified CAGW hypothesis.
Instead we have discovered that this person has been using his position to promote ‘fringe’ views of various groups with which they are associated around the world.  (link)
Fringe views? Why fringe, if they are Peer reviewed?
The emails will track how annoyance at the publication of a ‘contrary’ article in a journal develops into an attack on the editor, Chris de Freitas, an accomplished scientist. The attack includes a plot to see if they can get him sacked from his job at University of Auckland. Within the story, it is evident exactly what kind of ‘scientists’ the key authors are. The word scientist applied to these people has denigrated the meaning of the word.
Amongst those involved are Phil Jones, Michael Mann, Jim Salinger, Tom Wigley, Barrie Pittock, Mike Hulme + others. In addition Pachauri, the head of the IPCC is copied into many of the emails, meaning that he was fully aware that some of the key scientists in the IPCC were effectively out of control. (link)
We turn to MBH98, the Fraudulent Hockey Stick Paper. This paper was peer pal reviewed and has been so compulsively discredited afterward (phone book numbers create hockey stick). Where is the condemnation of that pal review?

So far we have the ClimateGate CRU trying to have non-conforming editors fired, trying to stop the publication of peer reviewed articles; the ClimateGate CRU peer reviewing fraudulent papers.

What next?

Close down publications that (shock horror!) publish peer reviewed Sceptical Articles.

The Papers can be found at this LINK. They include this paper:

Pattern in solar variability, their planetary origin and terrestrial impacts
Editor(s): N.-A. Mörner, R. Tattersall, and J.-E. Solheim

Nils-Axel Mörner is a name that has frequently appeared in these pages eg here (The IPCC is wrong) and here (Sea levels not rising.)

Roger Tattersall, known by his online persona "Tallbloke," is the owner and operater of the blog Tallbloke's Talkshop, which was set up in November 2009, around the time of the first release of hacked e-mails from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia.

Breaking: Pattern Recognition in Physics Axed by Copernicus

A conclusion and its implication in the summary paper was: because our scientific investigation leads us to the prediction that the Sun is headed into a protracted minimum, the warming forecast by the IPCC might not happen.
This has led to the journal being axed by the parent Publishing house Copernicus.
Heres the letter sent to Coordinating editor Nils-Axel Mörner and chief editor Sid Ali Ouadfeul:

Dear Sid-Ali, dear Nils-Axel, We regret to inform you that we decided to terminate the journal
(PRP).

While processing the press release for the special issue “Pattern in solar variability, their planetary origin and terrestrial impacts”, we read through the general conclusions paper published on 16 Dec 2013. We were alarmed by the authors’ second implication stating “This sheds serious doubts on the issue of a continued, even accelerated, warming as claimed by the IPCC project”. Before the journal was launched, we had a long discussion regarding its topics. The aim of the journal was to publish articles about patterns recognized in the full spectrum of physical disciplines. PRP was never meant to be a platform for climate sceptics. In addition to our doubts about the scientific content of PRP, we also received information about potential misconduct during the review process. Copernicus Publications cannot risk losing its excellent reputation in the scientific community. We therefore wish to distance ourselves from the apparent misuse of the originally agreed aims & scope of PRP and decided today to cease the publication. This decision must come as a surprise for you, but under the given circumstances we were forced to react.

We hope that you understand our reasons for this decision. We thank you very much for your cooperation and wish you all the best for your future career. Best regards, Martin and Xenia

Roger Tattersall — tweeted:
Copernicus clearly didn’t like the climate science related nature of the special edition. I sought peer reviewers.
Einstein's E=MC2 was not peer reviewed. It has universal acceptance.

Clearly, Peer review is NOT the best system

Falling temperatures are giving climate alarmists chills

Dr David Deming warned us of the fraudulent MBH98 Hockey Stick before Mann, Bradley and Hughes had fictitiously fabricated their scam scheme.

David Deming has a BS in geology and his Phd is in geophysics. He is Associate Professor of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma. Deming is the author of more than thirty research papers and the textbook Introduction to Hydrogeology. He is an associate editor for the academic journals Petroleum Geoscience and Ground Water. (link)

This blog has previously reported the exchange between Dr David Deming and IPCC Lead Author Jonathan Overpeck (link.)  Overpeck emailed Deming saying that, to scare people, they had to get rid of the Medieval Warm Period (MWP.)  Phil Jones (Professor in the School of Environmental Sciences, UEA)  referred to it in the Climategate emails§. Not long after, the
MBH98 Hockey Stick was created.

David has written an opinion piece for the Washington Times:

Another year of global cooling

Global warming is nowhere to be found. The mean global temperature has not risen in 17 years and has been slowly falling for approximately the past 10 years. In 2013, there were more record-low temperatures than record-high temperatures in the United States.
At the end of the first week in January, a brutal spell of cold weather settled over most of the country.
Remember that this is written for the US. However the Clowns from the down-under Climate Council writing alarmists shtuff (link) about global warming and heat-waves should remember the "GLOBAL" part of global warming.

Some sites experienced frigid conditions not seen since the 19th century. Chicago and New York City broke temperature records set in 1894 and 1896, respectively. These extremes were not singular, but exemplary of conditions throughout much of the continent. Temperatures in Chicago were so cold that a polar bear at the Lincoln Park Zoo  had to be taken inside.

Cold versus Warm

Alarmists, like the climate council, warn us of deaths due to "global warming."
For example, during the 2009 heatwave in Melbourne, there were 980 heat related deaths—that’s 374 deaths more than would have normally occurred. (link -pdf)
Cold Weather Deaths:

  • 20,000 pensioners died from the cold last winter (link)
  • UK weather: 31,000 people DIED of the cold last winter (link)
  • Death toll from Europe’s cold snap hits 400 (link)
  • North India under grip of enduring cold wave, death toll reaches 233 (link)

AMTRAK: Scene Releases
Dr Deming points out other effects of cold inimical to human welfare:
The operation of power grids, gas pipelines and oil refineries was disrupted. Passengers on Amtrak trains were left stranded, and thousands of flights were delayed or canceled.
The January freeze caused $3 million in damage to vineyards in Ohio.

David concludes:
If the current cooling trend continues for a few more years, the theory of global warming faces imminent extinction. It will then join a long list of other expired environmental doom-and-gloom predictions, including overpopulation, peak oil and nuclear winter.

Save the Polar Bear

Not from Global Warming but from the cold. (link)
Pack it up folks and stay inside, it is officially too cold even for the neighborhood polar bear. DNAinfo Chicago spoke to the folks at the Lincoln Park Zoo and their polar bear, Anana, will be staying warm inside a “climate-controlled” area thanks to the below-zero extreme temperatures in Chicago today.
“Few of us are accustomed to this cold” zoo spokeswoman Sharon Dewar said. Dewar went on to point out to DNAinfo that polar bears in the arctic would typically put on a fat blubber layer going into late winter, but since Anana is a city bear she doesn’t have that blubber layer due to our generally warmer climate.
Until temperatures warm up Anana, the lone polar bear at the zoo, will be staying indoors with the rest of us. To remind us of warmer days, check out Anana playing in the snow below.

Jonathan Overpeck has since confirmed that he was the author of the original email although disputes the intent. Jonathan is on twitter @TucsonPeck
