All Scientists are Sceptics ~Professor Bob Carter

Whenever someone asserts that a scientific question is “settled,” they tell me immediately that they don’t understand the first thing about science. Science is never settled. Dr David Deming

Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of the science of climate change is the lack of any real substance in attempts to justify the hypothesis ~Professor Stewart Franks

Tim Flannery, failed Prophet praises Failed Californian Economy

Tim Flannery wrote a loosely researched and referenced book The Weather Makers. Dr Wes Allen re-examined Flannery's Foolery and found (LINK)
The Weather Makers is shown to contain

  • 23 misinterpretations,
  • 28 contradictory statements,
  • 31 untraceable or suspect sources,
  • 45 failures to reflect uncertainty,
  • 66 over-simplifications or factual errors,
  • 78 exaggerations and over a hundred unsupported dogmatic statements, many of them quite outlandish.

Hardly something to write home and boast about, is it, Tim?

Flannery also has a disastrous list of failed predictions. As Andrew Bolt pointed out earlier this year
Flannery once claimed the Arctic ice could melt completely away by, er, last year.
He claimed Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane could be all out of water by, oops, a couple of years ago now. (LINK)
This last prediction has cost state economies Billions in rusting white elephant desalination plants. As "our" ABC pointed out (LINK)
Sydney's privatised desalination plant, which is costing residents more than $500,000 a day to keep on standby, will not be needed for at least another four or five years.
The sale of the plant last year to a private company for $2.3 billion means residents are locked into paying about $10 billion in fees for the next 50 years, whether the plant is operating or not.
Nice going, Tim. Half a million per day to prop up this white elephant. And no apology from Tim. Instead we get more diatribes pushing the falsified AGW hypothesis, no global warming for more than 18 years but, in his latest scribblings (LINK) Tim says
Yet, here in Australia, we now hold the dubious distinction of being the first country to repeal an operating and effective carbon price
Effective carbon price? Effective in what way? Effective in stifling economic growth? Effective in Exporting jobs?

In his piece, Tim points to California:
There’s also plenty of action in the US: 10 states with a combined population of 79 million are now using carbon pricing to drive down emissions, including California, the world’s ninth largest economy.
Why is California the "world's ninth largest economy?" What is driving this great state?

Or that should read: "What is driving down this once great state?"

California slips to world's 9th largest economy.

California has long had an economy larger than most nations, but nominal growth has once again seen it slip on the top 10 list.
The state dropped to ninth on the list of world’s largest economies as measured by gross domestic product in 2010, according to a report this month from the Center for Continuing Study of the California Economy.
In the early 2000s, California was fifth in terms of GDP, which is the value of its goods and services.
A clue could be that California TAXES CARBON EMISSIONS. (See 55 reasons why California is the worst state in America.)

A failed Prophet praising a failed state.
