All Scientists are Sceptics ~Professor Bob Carter

Whenever someone asserts that a scientific question is “settled,” they tell me immediately that they don’t understand the first thing about science. Science is never settled. Dr David Deming

Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of the science of climate change is the lack of any real substance in attempts to justify the hypothesis ~Professor Stewart Franks

Mark Butler - Is he conning or stupid?

Shadow Minister for the Environment Mark Butler - in reply to your email (below)

I, too, had to take a deep breath and count to ten when I was watching Insiders yesterday. When asked whether climate change was an economic issue, Treasurer Joe Hockey responded simply: “no, absolutely not.”

After your party introduced your tax on invisible vital-to-life carbon dioxide (and yes, it is carbon dioxide, why do you people insist on calling CO2 carbon? That's like calling water Hydrogen) ....er...where was I?

Oh yes, After your party introduced your tax on invisible vital-to-life carbon dioxide, it stifled the economy and drove business off shore.

Mark, you say:
This came in the same week that Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping struck an historic deal to limit emissions.
Mark, are you simple or are you lying?

Barack Obama did announce his intention (not commitment) to reduce emissions of essential carbon dioxide. This would stifle the United States economy just as Labor's tax on CO2 did here.

But do you really believe that Xi Jinping agreed to limit emissions, or are you trying to con your supporters?

The reality is that China has indicated no more than an intention  (not commitment) to start reducing CO2 emissions in 16 years time. This means other developing countries will almost certainly indicate emission reduction policies at Paris next year which are similar and which do not involve legal commitments.

The German coalition government is planning to withdraw from its 2020 climate change goals. Notwithstanding public protest, Federal Economics Minister Sigmar Gabriel (SPD) has abandoned the requirement of cutting 40 percent of CO2 emissions compared to 1990 levels by 2020. “It’s clear that the [2020 CO2] target is no longer viable,” said the vice-chancellor according to information obtained by SPIEGEL, adding: “We cannot exit from coal power overnight.” (LINK)

You then say:
This doesn’t fix climate change

Do you mean climate change or do you mean man made global warming? Do you realise that there has been no global warming this century?

This century the falsely accused carbon dioxide has risen from ~370ppm to ~400ppm but what has happened to global temperatures?

Sks Trend for RSS
Yep! While CO2 has been heading North,  global temperatures have been heading South.

Mark, Take another deep breathe, count to ten again and wake up and smell reality.

This came in the same week that Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping struck an historic deal to limit emissions. As the entire world was talking about climate change action, Tony Abbott was determined to not just ignore it, but to boast about going backwards on it.
But they are feeling the pressure, and the only way we can up that pressure is to make sure more people know what this Government is saying.

This doesn’t fix climate change, but it does help build awareness of the Abbott Government’s inaction.

Thanks for your support,
Mark Butler
Shadow Minister for the Environment, Climate Change and Water
