Peer reviewed Paper: nothing unusual, unnatural or unprecedented about the planet's current level of warmth.

Harp Seal - Northernmost Atlantic
A paper, published by Climate Dynamics by Hanhijarvi et al titled Pairwise comparisons to reconstruct mean temperature in the Arctic Atlantic Region over the last 2,000 years (link)

Climate Dynamics Volume 41Issue 7-8pp 2039-2060

Abstract

Existing multi-proxy climate reconstruction methods assume the suitably transformed proxy time series are linearly related to the target climate variable, which is likely a simplifying assumption for many proxy records. Furthermore, with a single exception, these methods face problems with varying temporal resolutions of the proxy data. Here we introduce a new reconstruction method that uses the ordering of all pairs of proxy observations within each record to arrive at a consensus time series that best agrees with all proxy records. The resulting unitless composite time series is subsequently calibrated to the instrumental record to provide an estimate of past climate. By considering only pairwise comparisons, this method, which we call PaiCo, facilitates the inclusion of records with differing temporal resolutions, and relaxes the assumption of linearity to the more general assumption of a monotonically increasing relationship between each proxy series and the target climate variable. We apply PaiCo to a newly assembled collection of high-quality proxy data to reconstruct the mean temperature of the Northernmost Atlantic region, which we call Arctic Atlantic, over the last 2,000 years. The Arctic Atlantic is a dynamically important region known to feature substantial temperature variability over recent millennia, and PaiCo allows for a more thorough investigation of the Arctic Atlantic regional climate as we include a diverse array of terrestrial and marine proxies with annual to multidecadal temporal resolutions. Comparisons of the PaiCo reconstruction to recent reconstructions covering larger areas indicate greater climatic variability in the Arctic Atlantic than for the Arctic as a whole. The Arctic Atlantic reconstruction features temperatures during the Roman Warm Period and Medieval Climate Anomaly that are comparable or even warmer than those of the twentieth century, and coldest temperatures in the middle of the nineteenth century, just prior to the onset of the recent warming trend. (my bold)

What does it mean?
What was learned
The ultimate take-home message of the three researchers is contained in the final sentence of their paper's abstract: "The Arctic Atlantic reconstruction features temperatures during the Roman Warm Period and Medieval Climate Anomaly that are comparable [to] or even warmer than those of the twentieth century, and coldest temperatures in the middle of the nineteenth century, just prior to the onset of the recent warming trend [italics added]."

What it means
Once again, we have another study of real-world data, which suggests that the warmest intervals of both the Roman and Medieval Warm Periods may well have been warmer than the warmest interval of the Current Warm Period, suggesting that there is nothing unusual, unnatural or unprecedented about the planet's current level of warmth.

  1. I can explain this for you Geoff, the medieval warm period has been explained by orbital forcing, it has nothing to do with CO2. These orbital forcing are not happening at the moment, so can not explain the temperature rise in the Arctic. A large portion of the world did not see warming during the medieval warm period due to it not being caused by a global gas such as CO2. This is why when you add up all the temperature records from around the world during the medieval warm period, it was not that hot globally. Today due to the warming being caused by a global gas such as CO2, the warming is being seen world wide. When all the temperatures are added up around the world, the temperature of the Earth is a lot hotter then it was back during the medieval warm period. This is why the temperature record looks like a hockystick.

    1. So you are always calling for peer review but ignore the papers from around the globe showIng the MWP to be a worldwide phenomenon.

Sheeeesh! Now you are relying on the fraudulent hockey stick. You really are under the spell of the hoax aren't you?

  2. Anthropocentric climate change deniers like yourself and others, find areas around the world that were warm during the MWP, but because all they want to do is prove that the Earth was warmer back then, they hide all the temperature records of the Earth that did not show a warming during the MWP. Real science cant do that, so when a temperature reconstruction of the northern hemisphere or of the global is done that shows the MWP up unitl today, they have to add up all the temperatures. Due to this, every single temperature reconstruction done takes the shape of a hockeystick. Please Geoff, stand up for your reputation and of your party and show everyone you are not lying, link a paper that shows when all the temperatures are added together, it does not create a hockey stick graph.

  3. SHeeeeeeesh! You are still saying LINK to a paper.

You have NOT answered the failure of the Peer-review - "PAL" review process - the links I provided show thousand of so called "peer-reviewed" papers retracted, papers that were created by computers accepted by the Peer-review process.

Now you say: "every single temperature reconstruction done takes the shape of a hockeystick." So did feeding the Canadian phone book into the massively failed hockey stick crock.

"every single temperature reconstruction done takes the shape of a hockeystick." Sheeesh! Everything showed a hockey stick crock.

Do you have any real science?

  4. I dont understand Geoff!?!?!?! you said "So you are always calling for peer review but ignore the papers from around the globe showing the MWP to be a worldwide phenomenon." ??? What papers? Are these papers the ones you think are not allowed to be peer reviewed because of a government cover up? If so can you LINK! me to ONE! of them????

  5. How about what?? you link me some! proxy data that shows a warming during the MWP but completely disregard ALL the proxy data that shows a cooling!?!?! I just completely explained that this is what you would do, hide all the temperature records that show no warming. I know you have to hide all the evidence to try and make your point and that you are part of the people that are trying to make money off denying anthropocentric climate change, so I dont expect you to ever agree with the truth, but it was fun to chat. I hope one day you get some karma from your evilness.

  6. "completely disregard ALL the proxy data that shows a cooling!?!?!"

You have nothing or you would have given at least one link. You surely can't believe, as you have previously indicated, that you accept the stupid falsified MBH98 graph?

No one could be that idiotic!

"hide all the temperature records that show no warming"

    HUHH?

That was the Global Warming Nazis in the Climate Gate emails:

    Trenberth:
The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t.

    Link: http://wattsupwiththat.com/2013/05/22/kevin-trenberth-struggles-mightily-to-explain-the-lack-of-global-warming/

and of course Mike's Nature trick of confusing real world data with fake hockey stick shtuff:

"I know you have to hide all the evidence" Well, not us, we use real world data; it is the Global Warming Nazis who try to hide the evidence. (See last 2 links)

"part of the people that are trying to make money off denying anthropocentric climate change," I have already answeed that. Who is financing YOU to give all this disinformation? You dodged that queston before.

I don't expect you to ever agree with the truth as you are pushing the falsified CAGW hoax.

WE present real world info but the Global Warming Nazis, whom you seem to be linked with, wil NOT be getting any "Karma from their Evilness."
